The Victoria Day weekend has always been the unoffical start of summer around my house and not wanting to miss the first
weekend of the season Jill and booked a site at a campground that we had never been to before.
We drove the hour to
the site and checked in. There were a few unexpected problems like hook ups being on the wrong side and the directions not
being exactly correct. We survived the drive and get ourselves settled.
The weather decided not to co-operate, getting
below freezing at night and not much better than that during the day. We made friends with the few other campers that were
in the site for the weekend and by combinig all of our wood we could keep a fairly good fire going most of the day.
We
all took turns watching the children (who managed to stay warm by running around constantly) and warming ourselves by the
fire.
Except for running out of propane one night we had a very enjoyable weekend and met a few new friends. In fact
we have already booked into the same campground for the July long weekend. Hopefully by then we won't have to worry about
another hail storm.
