Victoria Day Weekend 2007

Green Acre Park
Waterloo

It finally arrived the first camping trip of the year.  As always we headed out on the Victoria Day weekend and met up with friends.  This year we decided to head back to Waterloo and an old favorite campground.

The Friday was warm and sunny.  We arrived just after lunch and were set up and soaking up some sun in no time.  The kids are older now and could run off to the park which was not far away on their own while Jill and I were able to spend a little more time relaxing with the other couples.  Firday was Bingo night and the kids tried their best but only Tom managed to win a prize.  The camp fire was warm and friendly with lots of hot dogs to go around.

Saturday proved to be another beautiful day.  We had our breakfast in the sun and everyone decided to head to the local Amish market for the morning.  The kids enjoyed some slushies and TJ had the thrill of a life time when a scantly clad woman decided that his lap would do fine for a park bench.

We headed back to the campground for lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon swimming in the pool.  We thought the hot tubs looked inviting and spent a short time soaking up some extra heat.  Back to the camper for dinner and some family time around the fire.

Sunday was the complete opposite of the rest of the weekend.  COLD so very cold.  We needed to stay near the fire to stay warm all day.  The wind was not friendly either.  Jill's new camp chair and favorite balnket ended up in the fire when she stood up to help the campers next door retrieve their tent from the duck pond.  Only one good thing came from this day.  I discovered that you can toast animal crackers over an open fire.

Monday arrived and things looked much better.  Although it was time to leave we still had time to take the kids on a tractor ride and for a hike in Laurel Creek Conservation area.  I think we might try camping there it looked really nice.

Lunch came and it was time to leave but we had a really good time and can't wait until the next trip.
