This year marks Jill and my 10th anniversary and for a special treat we decided to go white water rafting.
After dropping the kids off with their respective family member Jill and I headed to the Ottawa Valley. Traffic
was light for a long weekend and we were there in about 6 hours. I had booked a room at the spa that is on the rafting
grounds for us to stay in. The room was amazing! Very big and very private with our own hot tub and pool.
Dinner was included that night so we headed into town and had a nice meal at the local restuarant.
The next morning was rafting day. After a brief safety presentation we were all loaded onto a bus and taken to
the top of the rapids. Jill and I had booked ourselves on the extreme adventure sport boats that hold 6 people.
Everything was great until we hit the first rapid. Then it was one adrenaline rush after another. The river guide
(Luke) was a real pro. Having spent 24 years on the river he knew ever trick of the river. We hit the rapids hard
and spent a long time surfing. Jill and I stayed in the raft through all 9 rapids but went for a swim while surfing.
We even jump into the river from a cliff.
The next day was a travel day where we headed into Ottawa itself and stayed at a B & B, took in the sites and followed
a haunted tour at night.
We had a terrific time and highly recommend that anyone interested in rafting try it once. Also if you go book
with River Run Rafting. They run the tightest ship that we saw.
